Okayama began manufacturing rice shochu (\"Kibi Oukoku\") in 1983 and local beer (\"Doppo\") in 1995. It was only natural that in a market where Japanese whisky was greatly sought after, they would produce whisky. In 2011, they used malted barley from Okayama and subterranean water from the pure brook Asahigawa to manufacture spirit. The emphasis in producing the whisky here is on using local raw ingredients. The malt utilised is of different sorts, and the water from an underground pure stream \"Asahigawa\" from a depth of 100 metres and has been used as water to create beer and shochu, including refined sake.\nThe Miyashita distillery made this Okayama Triple Cask single malt whisky from the highest grade 'Nijo' barley procured in the Okayama region. It was aged for three years in brandy, sherry, and mizunara (Japanese oak) barrels.
