Rum and the sea are inextricably linked, and no rum better represents the sea and the seaman than British Navy Pusser's Rum. For over 300 years, sailors in Great Britain's Royal Navy were given a daily ration of rum by the Purser (corrupted to 'Pusser' by the Jack Tars). From 1655 until the custom was discontinued on August 1, 1970, 'Pusser's Rum' was one of the few daily luxuries offered to the early seamen of Britain's Navy as they fought across the world to preserve the Empire intact and its sea channels open. Initial aromas that present a rounded oak aroma of classic demerara sugar, molasses dried fruits, island spices, and caramel. The rich, spicy taste has clove, vanilla bean, luscious raisins, honey, and nutmeg. Pure, silky, and slightly warm. Long aftertaste of honeycomb, caramel, and licourice, with a faint, drying chocolate finish.
