The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old is one of Speyside's benchmark single malts and a superb introduction to sherry-cask matured Scotch. Created by legendary Malt Master David C. Stewart, the whisky spends its first 12 years in traditional American oak ex-bourbon casks before being finished for several months in European oak Oloroso sherry casks. This "DoubleWood" maturation adds layers of richness and complexity while maintaining Balvenie's signature honeyed character. On the nose, expect inviting aromas of sweet honey, vanilla, orchard fruits and citrus peel, intertwined with warming cinnamon, nutmeg and gentle toasted oak. The palate is beautifully smooth and well-balanced, offering flavours of honeycomb, dried fruits, caramel, toasted almonds and soft spice, with the sherry influence adding notes of raisins and Christmas cake.
