Michel Couvreur Candid Overaged Whisky (43.0% ABV, 700ml) is a distinctive French-bottled malt whisky with a Scottish soul. Distilled in 2006 and matured in deeply humid caves in Burgundy, it’s aged in 250-litre Pedro Ximénez sherry casks—known as “media botas”—which impart a rich, oxidative character. The whisky is a blend of four carefully selected casks to ensure consistency. On the nose, it’s floral and intense, with roasted almond and soft spice. The palate is mellow yet powerful, revealing peaty liquorice, dried fruit, and a soft pungency, all wrapped in a velvety texture. The finish is long and warming, with a subtle sherry sweetness and earthy depth.
